What does kawaii mean?
Kawaii is usually translated as “cute”, but it carries more feeling than that. It can mean loveable, charming, small, soft, playful or endearingly imperfect.
In Japan, kawaii is not reserved for children. It turns up in fashion, mascots, packaging, design and everyday life. Cuteness can be funny, comforting, strange or beautifully designed.

What it means at oshoppu
At oshoppu, Kawaii is plush, dolls, favourite characters, gacha, blind boxes and anything that gives you an immediate little spark of joy.
It is not about taking things less seriously. It is about knowing that good design can be delightful, and that grown-ups are allowed to love cute things too.
